Maren Bernicke graduated from UW-Eau Claire with a marketing degree and spent her early career as a marketing analyst and manager. She left that world when she was expecting Brody and began helping Ty build Bernicke Wealth Management from the ground up. She spent the early years growing the firm’s contact base and running its CRM before moving into accounting, which turned out to be exactly where she belongs.
She will tell you that accounting was her least favorite class in college, but now it’s her favorite thing to do. Her days run on invoices, reconciliations, budget tracking, and the financial reporting that keeps the firm running cleanly behind the scenes. Nobody sees it directly, and that is fine with her. What she loves most is the moment everything balances at the end of the week, the month, the quarter, and the year.
What has stayed with her over the years is the meaningful impact the firm has had on clients’ lives, often reflected in their sincere gratitude for the guidance and support they’ve received. She hears it often, even from a distance.
Outside the office, Maren is most often at the cabin in New Auburn with Ty, family, and friends, out on the boat in summer, or on a snowmobile in winter. She always has a book going and a puzzle in progress. People who know her well would tell you she reads more than 80 books a year, which somehow surprises everyone.
