Is It Time to Review Your Beneficiary Designations?

Susan K. Severson | Posted: August 10, 2018

So many times when we meet with clients we ask the question “Do you know how your beneficiaries are listed on that account?” Many times the answer we receive is “I don’t know, it has been so long since I opened that account that I just don’t remember.”

The truth is, time and life seem to get away from all of us, and before we know it, years have passed. During that passing time, many life changes can happen as well. Significant life changes such as marriages, births, children growing up, grandchildren being born, deaths of loved ones, divorce and any other number of events may have changed the way that you would like your assets to be passed on at your death.

Periodic reviews of your account beneficiaries with us as your advisers are important, as are periodic reviews of your estate planning documents to be sure that they are still consistent with your wishes. If you have questions on your beneficiary designations or would like to talk about what your options may be, please give us a call or talk with us during your regular review.
